The structure of The Norwegian Council for Africa

The Norwegian Council for Africa is an umbrella-organisation with both organisations and individuals as members. The Norwegian Council for Africa has in 1996 30 member-organisations and approximately 600 individual members.

The executive body of the Norwegian Council for Africa is the General Assembly which is normally held once every year. In the period between the General Assemblies the Executive Board functions as the executive body. There are four commitees working under the board: Executive Commitee, Information Commitee, Project Commitee and Campaign Commitee.

The Norwegian Council for Africa also has a secretariat which is responsible for the daily management of the organisation: Executive Director Patrik Eklöf, Head of information Ellen M. Hansen and Information Officer Ketil Reigstad.

There is also a Political Council in the structure of the Norwegian Council for Africa. The Political Council consists of members of parliament, people from other organisations and other resources. This council has no executive powers and it is supposed to function as a counselling body for the debate and exchange of opinions pertaining to political questions the Norwegian Council for Africa relates to.
